Expressing feelings and emotions in a rational world is difficult. Who we truly are is revealed in a look, touch or word with those we trust and hold close.
Capturing images that reveal the person underneath can take a lifetime to master. Sometimes the emotions are right there in front of us, other times people reveal very little.
Being technically proficient and creative are the tools I work with. Interpreting emotions, feelings and seeing the real person is what I strive for. Having been in love, lost love, empathized, shared joy and sorrow, allows me to see the same in others, and relate those feelings back through my work.
I’m privileged and grateful for the people who opened up and allowed me to share, all too briefly, a part of their life. It is my hope that the images I pass on reflect emotion, feeling and character for future generations to share
Some Background
I began my photographic career at the age of 16 in high profile Collins Street studio. Aside from the technical aspects, my mentor taught me respect and dignity for people & their events, speed & efficiency, and creative interpretation.
After some years, I branched out on my own to concentrate on a more personal approach. The change also allowed me the freedom and ability to explore more creative and meaningful photography for business promoting, events, portraits, and of course weddings.
My background in dealing with people in highly emotional or difficult situations has become so natural, I approach each assignment with a sense of fun and enjoyment. Over time, my relaxed and diplomatic nature has led to a reputation for achieving creative results with minimal interference to the events themselves.
No matter what the assignment, I believe my clients should enjoy the experience of having their photographer around. Whilst my passion is creating amazing images, I understand my clients are organising an event, running a business or simply being busy as parents.
Asking questions, listening to suggestions, being a long term member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, constantly learning, and simply having fun with the craft of image making is what makes me happy.
